  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil in a spray bottle

Instructions

  1. Prepare the onion by slicing off the top and creating evenly spaced cuts to form petals.
  2. Let the onion relax cut-side up for about 5 minutes.
  3. In one bowl, whisk together flour, paprika, cayenne pepper, ground cumin, dried thyme, dried oregano, salt, and pepper; in another, combine eggs, milk, and water.
  4. Coat the onion first in the flour mixture, then dip it in the egg mixture, followed by another flour coating.
  5. Chill the coated onion in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Spray the chilled onion with oil and cook in the air fryer for about 25 minutes, spraying oil occasionally until golden brown.
